Human Activity – A Cityscape Sculpted from Repurposed Construction Waste
$4,200.00
Available for purchase at show
Description
“Human Activity” contrasts the chaotic nature of urban development with the serene beauty of nature. Created entirely from construction waste and discarded materials, this sculpture embodies the cycle of creation and destruction. Nature is destroyed to create building materials, which are then used to construct buildings, generating waste that is repurposed into this piece. Left alone, nature would eventually reclaim and destroy the city once again. Designed to be viewed from all angles, this piece highlights the continuous cycle of building, destruction, and renewal that shapes our world.
The sculpture is part of the 36th Annual Sculpture in the Garden exhibit, which runs from September to December 2024 at the North Carolina Botanical Garden. This long-running event brings together works by local artists and highlights their relationship with the native plant landscapes of the Garden. The exhibition offers a unique experience of art and nature, with over 80 installations this year, most of which are available for purchase.
